The Immature
Republic-can?
From the very outset of the Keyes bid for the 2008 GOP nomination, he has said that he was raising a standard to which Conservatives could repair. Dr. Keyes has never cultivated a personality cult. His record, as documented on the website http://renewamerica.us and also on America’s Revival http://www.alankeyes.com is sufficient to testify that he is anything but wishy-washy. There comes a time when Wisdom reveals that one’s time is better spent elsewhere. (see the Serenity Prayer)

Dr. Keyes is being consistent with his pledge to continue to offer Conservatives a valid choice this November. The Constitution Party would put him on pre-approved ballots in 47 states. That’s not political opportunism, nor is it political suicide. It, in fact, is not political anything. It’s Statesmanship. He’s offering representation that grassroots Conservatism isn’t being offered elsewhere. It’s that simple.
Ambassador Keyes has maintained that each of us must be a leader of sorts. The citizenry of a Republic must educate and inform themselves in order to sustain that Republic. If the majority of Conservatives think the answer to the liberal dilemma within the Republican Party is to *sit this one out* in protest, it is already too late for our country. It’s the 11th hour. Time is not a luxury we possess.
I’d like to make a belated response to all the so-called Keyes supporters, who were unaware that Alan was running for the GOP nomination in 2008. More information is available to the inhabitants of the 21st Century than ever before in history. It comes from an unprecedented variety of sources, not just the so-called "mainstream media." If television, state and national Republican officials, and church leaders all kept his name off various lists, how then did the rest of us find out? We sought out the information. What a concept! The ghost of Peter Jennings did not, in fact, have Alan Keyes bound and gagged.
If people feel it is their right to be spoon-fed, there’s really nothing we can do to change that either. It’s a lesson in consequences that every parent knows all too well. Now that the Republican nominee is in all likelihood, John McCain, Dr. Keyes is offering the best avenue toward a Conservative choice this November. He can’t hold every Conservative’s hand, while driving each to the polls on Election Day, like some time-warping Santa Claus. People might still indeed show up and scratch their heads upon seeing his name on the ballot next to McCain and Hillbama. "Is Keyes still running?" they may ask themselves. Apparently, liberal Democrats don’t have a monopoly on needing remedial P.O.D., civics or card-denting 101.
Come November 2008, adolescence-trapped America better have grown up quickly, or be prepared to relinquish the keys to the car and driving privileges… forever.
