(just ask Sgt. William H. Carney,
the first black awarded the U.S. Medal of Honor)
Carney served with the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry as a sergeant and took part in the July 18th, 1863, assault on Fort Wagner in Charleston, South Carolina. He received his medal for saving the American flag and planting it on the parapet and although wounded, holding it while the troops charged. But recognizing the Federal troops had to retreat under fire, and with covering fire by only one white soldier of the 101st New York, Carney struggled back across the battlefield, and although wounded twice more, returned the flag to the Union lines. Before turning over the colors to another survivor of the 54th, Carney modestly said, "Boys, I only did my duty; the old flag never touched the ground!"
With the primitive communications of that time, the flag was an important visual contact for troops. Many Civil War medals were awarded for protecting and displaying the flag under fire, or for capturing enemy flags. Carney was awarded the Medal of Honor May 23, 1900, nearly 40 years later.
Those under the delusion that one’s output of effort in life is "fairly" compensated, quid pro quo, may indeed not comprehend this. But, whatever effort you’ve put into America’s Revival thus far, is not wasted with a break from the Republican Party. This was never about "The Republican Party Revival." From the very outset of Alan’s run this time, he has said that he was raising a standard to which grassroots Conservatives could repair this November. Because some chose not to inform themselves of the availability of true conservative representation from a Presidential nominee within the Republican nomination framework, Keyes has chosen to continue to raise that standard elsewhere. This action does not detract from the credibility of Dr. Keyes. It adds to it. Conservatives who voted for Alan in Iowa were disenfranchised through no fault of his, for example. To say that he should have known the msm and Republican Party bosses would reject him is a tautology of sorts. He may have suspected circumstances to be in place for this outcome to occur, but to blame the standard-bearer for those not repairing to the standard, is ludicrous.
No matter what time and energy one has vested in one’s Republican identification, the core campaign team has just as much, or more expended. A crucial moment in history has occurred within the Republican Party. True Conservatism has ceased to exist in its leadership with the nomination of John McCain. Conservatives feel that loss. Every loss necessitates the journey through the five stages of grief. How quickly one moves through those stages is entirely up to an individual.
This fact remains. Eight months does not afford a lengthy *rebuilding process*, via a completely new conservative party. Waiting for the next election cycle, risks an irretrievable decline into socialism and/or loss of sovereignty to globalism. In order to raise the most accessible standard this November, a Third Party candidacy for Alan Keyes with the Constitution Party is the most valid option. Not only as standard-bearer for Conservatives, but also as standard itself for the Constitution Party, Alan Keyes is the most valid option.
Faux, or even true, conservatives may still not have the courage to repair to that standard when offered a second chance. But it will be each one’s own responsibility to bear, both for the outcome of the November elections, and for one’s particular judgment before God.

"In a final word, I want to tell you, I say it with greater conviction because I'm a Republican, and because I'm a black American. Why? Well, because the Republican party was that party which began--does anybody remember this? A lot of people in the Republican party are so hungry for power that they don't remember the principles, but the Republican party actually began because of a tremendous dissatisfaction with the Whigs who had refused to take a principled stand on slavery. The Republican party was one of these third-party splinter movements, one of these parties that was gathering up the discontent that resulted in the voters from a lack of integrity on dealing with a fundamental issue of concern to the heart and conscience of the people of this country."

I love God, I love life, I love America, I recognize the same in Alan Keyes, and I have the courage to work and vote for him.
Is this the same Keyes who pulls cash from his campaign and is a perpetual last place finisher in every election (finishing behind candidates whom have dropped out of the race months before. The same rude Keyes who tries to force organized religion into the decision making branches of our government?

The offhand comment Jerry writes here is what I have come to refer to as the *California Calumny*. I've heard it repeated by others with slight variations, but I've heard it repeated conspicuously by several with ties to California. Another version accuses Keyes of running for office in order to build his fundraising database and to increase his asking price for speaking appearances. This very un-Christian gossip does not jibe with reality. I have cautiously spent time with Keyes and his backers since October via personal interaction on the conference calls and observing behavior on the internet. The character of the man, and the Christian integrity with which he handles his affairs seems impeccable. To further illustrate a mechanics of organizational integrity, after Dr. Keyes refused to concede the priority of the Pre-born cause when seeking the Constitution Party nomination, he did not waste time with resentments at having been manipulated by factions within the CP. Keyes and company simply moved to the next best way to provide the American people with a true choice come November. America's Independent Party is set up with the infrastructure to keep funds where they are generated. They are literally giving the grassroots all the tools they need to do politics on a local level and trusting God and Christians' own consciences to *trickle it up* so-to-speak. As for Jerry's other accusation - Alan Keyes and "America's Revival" is indeed trying to return to the principles laid out by the framers of the Constitution and their covenant document - The Declaration of Independence. To characterize that effort as *rude* or forcing religion upon America illustrates the ignorance of the accuser, not the character of the accused.
